Protect Your Right to Choose Your Carting Company
The proposed Commercial Waste Zone (CWZ) program will limit customer choice by reducing waste collection providers from currently nine to three for the next decade. Many Staten Island businesses may lose the ability to openly negotiate with carter of choice, creating an unintended monopoly, as Staten Island is only one zone and only three awardees.
Please support Council members Carr, Morano, Sanchez and Hanks amendment to maintain the one zone but expand to six service providers. This approach will help ensure true competition in both pricing and level of service. The Bronx is a smaller borough, with roughly half the residents and commercial businesses, yet it has six carters — three per zone. This amendment cures the inequity once again imposed on Staten Islanders.

Re: Opposition to the Commercial Waste Zone Program and Preservation of Customer Choice
Dear Council Member [Council Member],
I am writing as a business owner and constituent to express my strong opposition to the implementation of the Commercial Waste Zone (CWZ) program as it is currently structured for Staten Island.
For many years, my business has relied on a waste management provider that has consistently delivered dependable service, competitive pricing, and responsive customer support. Under the proposed CWZ system, I may be forced to abandon a company that has earned my trust and instead choose from a limited number of providers selected by the City.
As a business owner, I believe I should have the right to choose the company that services my business. Competition benefits customers by encouraging better service, fair pricing, accountability, and innovation.
I respectfully urge you to support measures that preserve customer choice and allow additional qualified carting companies to participate in the Staten Island zone.
I respectfully ask that you oppose the implementation of the CWZ program in its current form and support legislation that allows businesses to retain the freedom to select the waste management company that best meets their needs.
My business has been serviced by Faztec Industries for [years] years, and I am extremely satisfied with their service and wish to retain them as my provider.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
